Sun. 12 Jan.-Tues. 14 Jan. 2025 - GMC Bolton Lodge in Bolton Valley Vermont. Two nights, enclosed rustic cabin with wood stove, bunks for 8-10 people. Hike/ski/snowshoe on Bolton Valley Nordic trails. Cabin cost $142 total, divided evenly between the number of participants. Must also purchase a BV Nordic & Backcountry pass, typically about $25. Sat: Feb 8 [Date Changed from Sunday Feb. 9] Pre-Super Bowl Hike at Machimoodus and Sunrise Resort State Parks in East Haddam. Depending on trail conditions, plan to hike 4-5 miles. May need traction (creepers or micro spikes) if there's ice on the shaded trails. Meet 9:30 at parking area off Route 151/Leesville Road in E. Haddam. Wed. Feb. 19 - Day Hike. Natchaug Trail, Eastford and Hampton. A loop hike beginning at the Nathaniel Lyon Memorial Park, hike south through the Beaverdam Marsh Area, then north on the CCC Trail. Approx. 6.5 miles. Level: Moderate. Sarah O'Hare, seohare7@yahoo.com, 860-502-0880.

Sat: March 1 - Day hike Nayantaquit Trail, Lyme. 3.4 miles. After hike for those who desire drive to nearby Beckett Hill State Park so check it out (it is an undeveloped state park that adjoins the Nehantic State Forest. Meet at 9:30 am. Take Rt 156 south from Route 82 for 1.7 miles. Turn left on Beaver Brook Rd and follow for 2 miles. Turn right on Keeney Road and follow for 1 mile, entering Nehantic State Forest. Fri: March 7 - Day hike at Chatfield Hollow State Park. We will explore the area around the Deer Lake camp, checking out the orange and red trails at this end of the park. Sat: March 22-Annual Dinner at the Cheshire Grange. Social Hour begins at 5pm and dinner is served at 6pm. Annual meeting to follow. Ginny Apple will be our guest speaker. She spoke a few years back on bobcats and this time is planning to speak about Black Bears with the latest data and updates about human/bear conflicts and how we can share the same habitat. Cost is $20.
