Fri. 6 October - Sun. 8 October - Long Trail Maintenance: Our Biannual trip to maintain the Long Trail from Glastenbury Mountain to Lydia’s Rest. We will base our work out of Kid Gore Shelter. Work projects will entail trimming overgrowth, clearing waterbars, and cleaning-up blow-downs. Volunteers are responsible for their meals, and we recommend bringing a tent. Sat. 14 Oct. - Last stop Buttonwoods Hike. Meet at 10 am. Hike to the Great Meadow Pond shelter for a light lunch. Either loop back around for a 5 mile hike or stage a car off Dawley Road for around a 4 mile hike. Hikers choice. Dessert at Buttonwoods after hike. Level: Easy. Meet at parking lot to the northeast of Reservoir Number 6 off Route 44 in W Hartford near water pumping station at 9:30 am. Hike 5-6 miles. Easy/moderate terrain. Dogs on leashes welcome.
