Sun: April 9 -Palm Sunday Hike Harriman S.P. this is a hike that was started by the New York Section of the GMC. This will be a joint hike with the New Haven Hiking Club. Carpooling encouraged. Sat: April 15- Day Hike. Day Pond State Park. Meet at 9 am at Day Pond State Park which is 1.1 miles north of CT 149. Take Exit 16 off of CT Route 2 and go south on CT 149. In 3 miles turn right onto Peck Lane at sign for Day Pond State Park. After 0.4 mile take your first left onto Day Pond Rd,then turn right at the gate. Parking along the road by the pond. Sun: April 23 - Day Hike in Glastonbury/Manchester. Route 94/Hebron Avenue to Lookout/Case Mountain and return. About 9 miles. Features Buckingham Reservoir, iron beam bridge, stone chimney, chicken wire, and more! Contact leader for meeting time and place. Sat: May 13- Day Hike. Hartman Park in Lyme. Meet at 9am. Take CT 156 for 1.8 miles south from its junction with CT 82. Turn left onto Beaverbrook Rd, just past Lyme School. After 2.7 miles turn left again onto Gungy Rd. The park entrance is 1 mile down this road on the right. Parking near gated road into park. Hike is 4 miles. Level:Easy. Fri May 26- Mon May 29 - Peak bagging and Backpacking weekend on AT in NH. Saturday day hike 4000 footer to be determined in the Kinsman area. Sat, June 3 - The Sleeping Giant, Hamden. Meet at 7am on Tuttle Rd to tower to cook breakfast. After breakfast, hike tower trail into park and hike out on the yellow&horse trail. 8-9 miles. Sat: June 10- Annual GMC meeting in Vermont. The annual meeting is being hosted by the Breadloaf Section and will be at the Common Ground Center in Starksboro. Events begin on Friday and go through Sunday at noon. See the Long Trail News for the schedule of events.
