Sat. 02 Nov. - Sun. 03 Nov. - Backpack to the site of the former Mad Tom Notch Shelter on the north side of Bromley Mountain on the Long Trail. The water source at the site should still be running, but otherwise this is rustic tent or bivouac camping. Must be self-sufficient. Sat. 23 Nov. - Hike Tefftwald Land Preserve, North Stonington. Meet at Mandy's at 9:30 (8 Kingswood Dr) to drive to preserve or request specific directions from me. It is not well labeled and can be a little tricky to find. Tefftwald is an old Girl Scout camp and if we hike all the different areas, there is a good 7 miles or so to hike. Sat. 07 Dec. - Hike on Metacomet Trail north of CT Rt 20 beginning at East Granby Recreation Area. This is an out and back hike starting at the recreation area and climbing to the ridge to intersect the Metacomet Trail, then hike north for 2 miles or so and return. 5-6 miles. Moderate terrain. Meet 9.30 at East Granby Recreation Area at 79 North Main Street (CT-Rte 187), East Granby. The meeting place is 0.9 miles north of the intersection of CT-Rte 20.
