Sun. 11 Oct. - Day Hike - Northern section of the Tunxis Trail, Hartland. We'll start where the trail crosses Rte. 20 at 10:00 a.m., hike to the northern terminus, and return. We will briefly be in Massachusetts. Lots of moderate ups and downs with one steep but short section. Distance: 5.6 or 6.2 miles round trip, depending if you believe the guidebook or the trail sign. Sun. 18 Oct. - Day Hike. The first leg in the series of hiking the entire Shenipsit Trail. Until we can start staging cars it will be out-and-back or loop hikes. Sat. 31 Oct. - Annual Heublein Tower Halloween Hike, West Hartford/Bloomfield. Wear orange if you have it. Fall-themed snacks are always a hit. Meet at parking lot to northeast of Reservoir Number 6 off Route 44 in W Hartford near water pumping station at 9:30 am. Hike 5-6 miles. Easy/moderate terrain. Dogs on leashes welcome. Wed. Nov 11 - Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail. Hike 4.5 miles on a linear towpath along the CT River. Meet at the northern trailhead at 10 am. Directions: turn east off CT 159-CT 190 junction.
