Sun. 10 Oct. - Day Hike: Cockaponset State Forest, Chester. A figure-8 hike north on the Pattaconk Trail and back on the Cockaponset Trail. Includes a walk along the shore of the Pattaconk Reservoir. Sat. 30 Oct. - Annual Heublein Tower Halloween Hike, West Hartford/Bloomfield. Wear orange if you have it. Fall-themed snacks are always a hit. Meet at parking lot to northeast of Reservoir Number 6 off Route 44 in W Hartford near water pumping station at 9:30 am. Hike 5-6 miles. Easy/moderate terrain. Dogs on leashes welcome. Sat. 13 Nov. -Hike Devil's Hopyard loop. 7.5 miles. From junction of CT82 and CT156 in East Haddam, drive east 0.1 miles on CT 82 to Hopyard Rd. Follow signs to state park. Turn left and follow road 3.4 miles past the picnic area entrance and turn right ot the campground on Foxtown Road. Park in small paved lot on your left just off Hopyard Rd. Meet 9am. Wed: Dec 8 - Day hike to do Day Pond Loop. 4 miles. Take exit 16 off CT 2 in North Westchester and go south on CT 149. In 3 miles turn right onto Pck Lane at the sign for Day Pond SP. Afer 0.4 miles,take your first left onto Day Pond Rd, then turn right at the gate for Day Pond SP. The park is 1.1 miles north of CT 149. There is parking along the road by the pond. Meet at 10 am. Tues: Dec 28 - Day Hike Mooween State Park. Meet there at 10 am. Take Exit 22 on Route 2 toward Gilman/Lebanon. Turn north on Scott Hill Road and follow 0.3 miles. Turn left on Old Route 2 and follow 1.4 miles to Camp Moween Road. Follow 1.1 miles to the parking area at the head of Red Cedar Lake. It's winter break, please feel free to bring kids.
